Pinterest is a social media platform that can share images and links related to your blog content.

Grow Your Blog With Pinterest

Pinterest is an incredible way to drive traffic to your website. But how do you make sure that your pins are seen by as many people as possible?

1) Choose a catchy blog post title that will attract attention on Pinterest

When you create a pin, be sure to use a catchy blog post title that will attract the attention of your right-fit readers.

In your pin graphic, your text should accurately reflect the content of your post and pique the interest of readers. You’ll also want to consider using keywords in your title to help improve your chances of being found by Pinterest users because Pinterest AI does read the text on your pin design!

2) Add a "Pin It" button to your blog so readers can easily share your posts on Pinterest

Adding a "Pin It" button to your blog posts makes it easy for readers to share your content on Pinterest. This simple addition will allow readers to quickly and easily add pins of your posts to their own boards.

Why not let other people help increase your traffic too?!

3) Make sure your blog and website are mobile-friendly

This is a big one, not just for Pinterest but also for Google and overall accessibility.

However, a huge majority of Pinterest users use the app, which means it's essential to have a mobile-friendly and optimized website. Otherwise, that traffic you are driving from Pinterest won't stick around long.

4) Use keywords in your pin descriptions and board titles

Pinterest is actually a visual search engine, not a social media site.

So the two most important factors are the keywords you are using and the design of your pins. The keywords are what gets your pin seen by the right people, but your design needs to capture their attention enough to click-through to your website. That's why your keywords and pin descriptions are so important. Nobody will see your pin if you aren't writing pin descriptions that are optimized with the right keywords your audience is using.

5) Stay consistent and create fresh pins regularly

The more pins you have, the more traffic you're likely to drive to your website. Pinterest really rewards consistency, so if you do decide to try it out you may want to use a scheduling app like Tailwind* to help you batch your Pinterest content in advance and post consistently.

But it's not just about quantity- quality is important too!

To keep people engaged, be sure to create fresh and original pins regularly. This will help ensure that your content is seen as relevant and valuable by both the Pinterest algorithm and Pinterest users.

Final Thoughts

The most important factor and probably the most frustrating for most bloggers is Pinterest takes time.

Because it is a search engine, it takes time for the algorithm to understand your account, your content, and who needs to see it. But, Pinterest is so worth the time investment as it is one of the best organic platforms to grow your traffic, especially for bloggers who create great content on a regular basis.

Personally, since starting posting regularly on Pinterest I’ve seen a 35% increase in impressions, 46% increase in engagement and a 60% increase in outbound clicks! Which means in just a few months I’ve gained hundreds of new followers and dozens of new website visitors each week just from Pinterest. Not too bad considering it only takes an hour or so a week!
