Creating powerful Calls To Action
A call to action, or a CTA, is simply the link that leads people from where they are on your website to the very next step in their buying journey.
Use a different color with strong contrast to pull focus to your Call To Action
You'll want to make sure that you're designing your calls to action with a different color and a strong contrast to pull focus to those calls to action.
On the left here, we have a button with high contrast, not only between the text saying “book a call“ and the button color, but also the button to the background. So it really stands out and pulls our visual focus to that button.
While on the right, there's a lot less contrast visually between the button, the text and the background.
Make your call to action a button whenever possible
Yes, you certainly can use a link like I've shown on the right with the underline and in a different color, but whenever possible, if you're pulling people through your website towards the sale, you do want to take the extra focus towards a button that so that you cannot miss it and lead people towards working with you or purchasing your products.
Make sure that the language you're using for your call to action is very clear and very obvious
On the left, we've got an extremely obvious call to action telling us to “book a call”. There is no question that when I click that button, I'm going to be led to a page where I can book a call.
While on the right, the button that says “let's go” leaves a little bit more of a question in my mind of what's going to happen next. I don't know if I'm going to just be sent to the next page in a sales journey, or if I will be invited to book a call.
Make sure you repeat your calls to action
You want to give people as many opportunities as possible to work with you. So don't be shy to repeat that call to action all throughout your website and on your sales pages!
