Blogging is essentially just creating content to attract website visitors and to try to encourage them to stick around on your site, and eventually convert to becoming your paying clients. And if you’re considering creating a blog for your website, you might have some concerns around whether Squarespace* is a good fit.

Let’s break down blogging on Squarespace:

SEO principles are the same across all platforms

If you are prioritizing search engine optimization (SEO), I want to reassure you that SEO principles are exactly the same across all platforms.

There are no special tools or plugins that can automatically “fix” your SEO. Ultimately these tools simply help us identify areas where you can improve your chances of ranking higher in search but they don’t do that work for you.

Many blogs made on Squarespace rank #1 on Google

There are many blogs and pages on Squarespace websites that are ranking number one or on the first page of Google.

So rest your mind at ease, Squarespace is certainly a great platform to build your blog!

Well constructed sites with strategic keywords will rank higher on Google

Yes, because of the way Squarespace is built there are some things you can’t control that may make a minor difference to the Google algorithm compared to a custom-coded site or WordPress site. But in reality, for the types of websites that you're likely making as small business owners, these differences are very unlikely to make a huge difference.

In fact, your comfort using your website will likely have a bigger impact because you’ll actually get in there and create the content that will then give you better chances at improving your SEO.

What you want to really do is create content that is strategic and really focused on your target keywords. So, pick the website builder YOU will use and then optimize your site with SEO best practices & use keywords to connect with people searching
