5 Things you don’t need in order to sell your services, courses or digital products
You know you need to sell your offers in order for your business to work, but there’s also a lot of stuff that we think we need to be doing in order to make sales that honestly just keep us busy (and stressed!) but doesn’t actually lead to making more money.
So in this blog post, I’m sharing 5 things you do not need to have in place (or in your business at all!) in order to make good sales of your services, courses or digital products - or really anything!
5 Things you do not need to have in place in order to sell in business
You do not need a huge audience to make a good living online
It’s a common pitfall a lot of us online business owners fall into, thinking that we need to grow a large audience on social media or our email lists in order to make sales. Often, however, putting all of your energy into growing your audience can actually stand in the way of selling because you’re so focused on sharing all your amazing free content that it then becomes harder to share your paid offers.
What you really need is to map out offers that make sense for the audience you have and your realistic financial goals, and then get out there and sell those offers to the people you do have access to. The big audience building can wait! You do not have to have a "perfect" offer to make sales
While it can feel “safer” working on perfecting your offer - whether that’s tinkering with your sales page, practicing your craft or messing about with systems - usually the best thing to do in order to perfect your offer is to get it in front of real people and have them work through it. That’s the only real way to see what they need, what they get tripped up on and what they found valuable in your process - and that’s what will help you refine and “perfect” your offer over time!
So, really what you need is to put together something that's of value for the people you want to sell to, and then get it out there for those people to buy it!You do not need fancy tech to sell
While it can be super tempting to invest in high-end tech to look (and feel) professional right out the gate, having fancy systems in the back end of your business won’t help you make sales on the front end.
Plus, you won’t have income coming in to pay for those fancy tools if you aren’t out there making sales so this truly is a “nice to have” once you’ve got your sales sorted! You do not need to spend a ton of time & effort to sell your stuff
Now, this may sound contradictory after I just told you to skip the fancy tech and focus on selling, but sales should only be part of what you do in your business. And while they are super important, you do need to also allocate your efforts to the other essentials that keep a business running like your marketing, offer delivery, customer service, admin etc…
Plus, there’s this weird thing that happens when you’re too focused on "forcing" your sales: they tend not to happen... 🤷♀️
You do not need a big, fancy launch to sell your offers...
Yep, you really don’t need to be putting all your efforts into putting on large, elaborate sales & launch events in order to sell your offers. Sure, they can work but putting on the big, splashy launches you see many 6-7+ figure entrepreneurs talking about also takes a ton of time, ad spend, a team and often don’t result in as much take-home income as you’d think…
What you DO need is a simple, achievable system to sell your stuff while respecting your time, energy & capacity!
