The One Week Website: what is it and why you’ll want to offer it too!
If you’re a Web Designer looking to make more money while working less (and with better clients), this article is for you!
Back when I was offering done-for-you website design services I quickly found the traditional 4-6 week containers really tough to manage.
It took so long to finish a client’s website (especially with the almost obligatory delays and extra requests…)
I could only manage one or two projects at a time, which really limited my earning capacity.
And even once I started getting more inquiries coming my way, they were hard to sell to the small businesses I loved working with.
That’s when I created my One Week Website process: A super streamlined productized service that I sold straight from my website, no sales calls required!
It was a game changer for my business because it freed up my time to concentrate on just the parts of the process I enjoyed, allowed me to book more clients without overworking and grow my business’s reputation with clients I loved working with.
And I’m going to be sharing how it all worked in this blog post so you can see if creating a service that Sells Without Sales Calls might be right for you!
The One Week Website service process
This done-for-you design service was based on a streamlined process that used my strategically designed website template and allowed me to customize & launch a client’s website in just 5 days!
Here’s how it went down:
Booking The One Week Website
Clients could book their website design service straight from my website, where they had the option to share their top preferences for launch dates at checkout. I’d then get back to them asap after they book to lock in their development week and I always did my absolute best to fit with their launch date preferences!
Client Pre-Work
Then my clients received an email from me with everything they’d need to prepare before I’d dive into their website. This included a helpful welcome guide and access to our Client Project Hub where they could find all the important dates, links and information in one place.
I also gave clients access to a pre-work mini-course with extra resources to help them prepare their content, including things like my Brand Photography Guide and Copywriting course.
Kickoff Check-In
The week before the client’s start date, I sat down and reviewed EVERYTHING and reached out if there was anything I still needed. I also provided an opportunity for clients to ask me any questions that came up as you worked through the pre-work so we’re on the same page before we jump in.
Design Week
In the beginning of the development week, I’d dive straight into designing and setting up their website using my template. This included adding the client’s copy, branding, images and all of the technical setup
Around the mid-point, I’d then check in with the client and share a sneak peek at the website for their input. Then, with their feedback in hand, I’d put the finishing touches on their website, test all of the systems and get their website ready to launch!
Launch day
On the Friday of their week, I’d ask my clients to purchase their Squarespace plan and then I add the finishing touches to launch their website!
30-day post-launch email support
After popping the bubbly and celebrating their website launch, I offered 30 days of extra access to me for any questions or training they needed to feel super confident with their new website. After I’d offered this service a few times I had a nice library of trainings & resources ready to go so the 30 day support was honestly more for their peace of mind!
